Track Lighting

With its modern and sleek design as well as its utility, track lighting has grown in popularity in residential and commercial spaces. Track lighting is commonly used in new construction and when remodeling homes and businesses. Track lighting can be installed easily over existing ceilings, creating the same overall lighting as recessed lights.

Track lighting is a system of multiple lights mounted on the ceiling with each light connected through a cable or pole. Track lighting provides adequate light because of its multiple lamps. Depending on the needs of the area, these lamps can be spot lights or flood lights. Flood lights would be ideal for a larger commercial area like a beauty salon because they illuminate the entire space. For a smaller residential area such as a home kitchen, spot lights would highlight the work area and still brighten the space. Both spot and flood lights come in low and high voltages; the higher the voltage, the brighter the lamp.

In residential spaces, track lighting is mostly used in common areas, such as the kitchen, living room, and furnished basements. It is used to light the area or to highlight art work on the wall. In commercial spaces, track lighting can be used over the length of the ceiling and down the hallways.

Mono track lighting is ideal for large open spaces because these follow one straight track. They are compact and nicely blend in with the space’s architectural design. They are mounted up close to the ceiling providing great over all lighting.

Cable track lighting has a similar appeal to mono track lighting. These fixtures are on a cable line so they are more versatile as to where they can be installed. Cable track lighting systems can be mounted on the ceiling in many patterns including zigzag, down a wall, over ceiling height changes, and around corners.

Mono Rail track lighting provides overall lighting as well as artistic appeal. These fixtures follow one track, on a curved pole similar to the bend of a railroad track. These can be fitted together to make squiggly lines and curvy circles or ovals.

Once the track is installed, several different housings can be used along the length of the track. Each housing fixture serves a different purpose. For example, swivel housing can let you change the direction of the light, while Gimbal lamp housing will brightly highlight a certain area. Different types of bulbs can be mixed to give different illumination in certain areas.  As long as the same color and shape match, no one will notice the difference.
